Green Promise® paints are some of the finest paints you can find on the market today. But how did they get to be so green? The reason is the combination of both the base paint and the colorant.
These standards focus on the materials that are used to manufacture the paint. The two main standards are as follows:
Green Seal (GS-11)
Founded in 1989, Green Seal provides science-based environmental certification standards that are credible, transparent, and essential in an increasingly educated and competitive marketplace. Our industry knowledge and standards help manufacturers, purchasers, and end users alike make responsible choices that positively impact business behavior and improve quality of life.

MPI (Master Painter's Institute)
Established in 1996 MPI is an Institute dedicated to the establishment of quality standards and quality assurance in the painting and coating application industries in the U.S.A. and Canada. In addition, in recent years, they have also added a green product certification known as MPI Green Performance.
